Meet Your Coach

Kathy Romaine is a Career Development Coach who specializes in one-on-one coaching for mid- and senior-level STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) professionals. She also works with organizations that are open to advancing a coaching culture across their business enterprise.

Professionals hire her when they are feeling stalled and want a new opportunity or a greater challenge. She helps them get clarity about what they want and what is next for them – so they can take on more fulfilling work and make a greater impact.

When clients are referred from within an organization, Kathy focuses on working with both seasoned and emerging leaders to expand their skills so they can take on greater challenges and new roles/opportunities within their organizations. As a result, the organizations have leaders that are fully engaged – leading to the retention of top talent and, ultimately, positive impacts to the organization’s bottom line.

Kathy’s approach is client-driven. She guides her clients through a process that is tailored to meet their individual or organizational needs, aspirations, and goals. She helps them draw out solutions, develop plans to achieve their desired outcomes, implement those plans, and navigate the challenges they face – keeping them focused and motivated – until their goals are achieved.

Kathy is a lifelong learner with a voracious curiosity. Beginning her career as a scientist, she reveled in taking on new challenges and learning new skills.

Over the course of her career, she took on leadership roles in project and program management, resource and operations management, talent acquisition, performance optimization, business development and strategy. She has more than 15 years of experience leading and motivating individuals and teams in a manager-as-coach capacity.

Two of Kathy’s key takeaways from her career journey are: 1) times of change/new challenges result in periods of tremendous personal growth; and 2) people are at their best when there’s alignment between who they are and what they do.

These key learnings led Kathy to form and launch her company, Range Light. She understands the unique challenges involved in driving and implementing change and is passionate about helping others navigate change and achieve their desired outcomes with fewer obstacles and in less time.

Kathy holds a Coaching Certificate from Northwestern University’s Executive Learning & Organizational Change, and she is a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF). As a continuous learner, Kathy is also currently pursuing both a Professional Coach Certification at the University of Wisconsin Continuing Studies as well as her Associate Certified Coach (ACC) certification through ICF.

Kathy earned her Duke Environmental Leadership Master of Environmental Management (DEL-MEM) from Duke University and her Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin. She holds her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and has more than 25 years of experience working in government, not-for-profit and private organizations.
